W124 - Dash dial stops working when i put car in gear

Can anyone offer any suggestions? When i turn on the ignition on my 'M' reg E300 W124 Estate, everything is fully operational. As soon as i put the automatic into gear, the dial with the temperature, oil and fuel gauges cuts out and the audible buzzer comes on (very irritating !! ). Initially thought a fuse was playing up, but then realised it was cutting out when putting car in gear...

Have recently replaced the small LED bulb in the gearbox housing and was wondering if i have distrubed something under there that could be causing this? problem did not start until some days after bulb replaced...

Help... anyone recommend anything??

Have you opened it back up to check the condition of the wiring and connections? Maybe you accidentally nudged something out of place. Sounds like a simple problem.

If I were you I would post this in the W124 section of the forums. Other W124 owners might be able to help you out in more detail.
