Question Hey Yall...I'm a newbie from Texas!!!!

April 19, 2011: Hello everyone. I'm a newbie and have just been given a 1981 Mercedes Benz 300D (Light Ivory Color w/ Palomino Interior) from an 85 year old friend. It has an automatic transmission with 140,000 miles, has not been driven since 1998 and supposedly only needs a battery and air in the tires. It's been stored in a garage and appears to be in excellent condition ... engine is clean, hoses are supple, no interior damages, and only a couple of minor scratches on driver side door. I love a good project and plan to restore it - it's a classic! My husband and sons will pick it up this week. We do plan to drain the old diesel, change the oil and all filters before attempting to start the engine. We've never owned a mercedes but do have Chevy Duramax, Dodge and Ford trucks with diesel engines. Any advice/suggestions on restoring this car: will be greatly appreciated, i.e. mechanical, vacuum lines, interior/exterior cleaners/polishes/restorers, etc. Hope to hear from you soon... I'm ready to play with it!!!!!
