Unhappy ML 350 Transmission

Does the ML 350 has any safety interlocks whilst accidentally switching to NEUTRAL whilst Driving at slow speed for a few seconds and back to Drive again. Would this have caused any damage to the transmission ? Thanks in advance for your kind response.

There is no reason why it should.

A car would show appreciation for preventive maintenance by never leaving his owner stranded.

Defensive Driving is never having to say you're sorry: a true love story between man and machine.

I am pretty sure that once the car is in drive and actually moving you cannot put it in P N or R.

I don't think it can go into P or R, but can deffinatly go into N while you are in drive.

Theoretically no but I have, for good and obvious reasons, not tested it for real. That said, even if you do move from D to N whilst driving and back again, no damage can occur. It simply moves into auto rotate and back to drive, no big deal.

Yes, I think that new cars have safety features that do not allow you to shift from D into anything but N.

All of these toyota drivers have had to shift from drive into neutral since they can't stop
