2008 E 350 NAVIGATION QUESTION

Hi all,

I just purchased a 2008 E 350 with very low miles and I have a navigation question.

It has navigation system but when I attempt to use it I get a message that says, "nav in unavailable". My local dealer tells me that the vehicle is "navigation ready" and that a navigation module needs to be purchased to make it work.

Does anyone know if this is accurate information?

WAG: It sounds like you need the navigation DVD that apparently did not come with your car. Mine came without the NAV CD for whatever reason so I bought one on eBay. You might also try posting on the W211 forum found in the sedans section or have a look in the Audio & Telematics forum found in the technical section.

I guess you have the NTG1 COMAND head unit. If you can find the navigation DVD-drive from the left side of the trunk, put a navigation DVD in and see if it makes a difference.

If you head unit says "Navigation unavailable", it probably means you do not have the navi processor at the trunk, meaning you do not have navigation at all.
