How long a 2000 Benz will last?

Depending upon care and condition, if we assume that one will take care of car from 190,000 miles on it, Can we estimate that car may go upto 300,000 in well running condition?

What model are you referring to? It is of course possible that any car will go to 300,000 miles if it is properly cared for, but you are more likely to achieve this with a MB or other quality brand that has been engineered to the point of overdoing it in some cases. The key is regular maintenance and identifying and fixing problems before they cause bigger issues or affect other components. In my experience what kills a car is neglect, far more often than a mechanical failure.
Overall the engine and chassis would have a shot at making 300,000 but the transmission is the most likely weak point and of course you will go through various consumable items like motor/trans mounts, suspension rubber, belts, hoses, etc.

I am talking about MB E320 year 2000 Model with 189,000 Miles on it. Can one think about driving this car for next 100,000 miles? Here is the condition:

-Exterior: okay/good
-Miles: 189,000
-Engine Oil: Black and certainly needs change
-Overall Engine: dry and no extra noise but one thing I did notice that there was some white powder type light rust on lower aluminium portion of Engine
-Airbag/SRS light is on and according to seller there is something wrong with passenger side Airbag.
-Seller is Looking for 4K

Is it worth deal?

Whether it will last another hundred thou is anyone's guess, since it largely depends on how well it's been cared for.

If you are buying this planning on taking it in for service (rather than DIY) you'll likely pay another four over the next few years.

Have you read through the common issues thread in the 210 forum? Have you taken the car to a competent indie and had a PPI completed? If you are not quite familiar with the marque and model, that should be done.

I scheduled a PPI but seller wants to get cash asap. I am delaying because I have to make decision. As far as servicve is concerned, I have collected a lot of tutorials, owner manuals etc for E320 Model about how to keep car maintained. Unless it is very big issue where you gotta have mechanic, I will do all oil changes, filter replacement, brakes replacement etc. I even have arranged a nice garage for maintenance. My point is that if MB engine will last around 200K then why people say big things about MB's engine's longevity?

In this case it is the previous service that is the most important. Ask the seller to show you the service history. The black engine oil is a big red flag!

red flag??? I thought it just mean that replace the engine oil. Is there something more severe than that? Mostly cars get oil dirty and dark when it needs to be changed isn't it?

I heard that cat's 7 years equaled man's 1 year, 2000 miles for car equaled 1 year for man. Asking how long will a 190K-mile car last is like asking a 95-year-old man how much longer long he'll live.

Send a message via Yahoo to Mercedes Benz of Florida
Records, Records, Records.
If he can show you Dealership Record of Maintenance or DIY Maintenance, ( Like I do mine ), then that is IMPORTANT beyond this forum.

MB are maintenance intensive and must be well taken care of.
Black Engine Oil? Maybe bad or extreme negligence
Check the Tranny Oil
Check the Brake Oil
Check the Antifreeze/Coolant Fluid
Check the A/C Compressor
Check the Brakes and Tires
You need a FULL INSPECTION.
If you buy this E-Class, without an inspection, you WILL regret the purchase.
You can bet a Heifeweisen on that!

RECORDS + INSPECTION give you a more informed choice.

RUN FORREST RUN!!!! RUN AS FAR AWAY AS YOU CAN!!!!

There is likely a reason why the seller is in a rush to get rid of the car and why the seller appears reluctant to allow a PPI. The black oil is a sure sign that this car has likely been neglected not to mention the airbag light is on. Unless you have the time, energy and $$$$$, I would suggest you pass on this vehicle and find something else.
