After serpentine belt and tensioner with new rod/bolt have had a burnt rubber smell coming from under hood when park after driving. One mechanic said it was oil getting on a hot exhaust part but coking oil has a different smell in my experience.

Belt is properly tensioned per specs at left hash mark on backward N, wonder if this is a break-in experience or could there be pulley failure in train or even the A/C clutch bearing? Why would it only be happening after replacement of these parts? Greater tension on pulleys?

There are no rubber flecks from underside of belt to suggest slippage and of course, no squealing. Would the shock damper have anything to do with this? One slimey mechanic who I no longer use charged me for replacement of the little shock absorber next to the belt tensioner, but has Mercedes emblem on its as OEM and dirty as can be. He once charged me for a new A/C compressor that I had marked before going in and had same mark on going out. When confronted he said there was an outer casing on compressor, this I have never seen in shop manual or AllTheData schematics.
