A new diesel convert

Hello everybody. I have been newly indoctrinated into the Mercedes and diesel world. I had been thinking of getting a diesel for some time with the hopes of one day making my own biodiesel. I'm a science teacher, so the idea of using science to save money and reduce pollution is exciting. At first, I was thinking of a VW Jetta, but a coworker had such wonderful things to say about his Mercedes that I just had to check it out. Basically, I liked what I read about, so I recently found my own 1979 240D for sale. The previous owner had just upgraded to a newer Mercedes diesel. All it took was a test drive and I was hooked. From a 31 year old car, I was expecting much, much worse. Of course, the car isn't perfect, and I am sure I will find plenty to fix or upgrade. But, all and all, it is a solid car. So far, it has been very reliable. Sure, it is darn slow, but it is perfect as my daily driver to work.
