Thanks for your response.
Forgive me for using an a term such as "ammunition". Perhaps I should have said that the forum provided affirmation that the problem was software, not hardware driven.
Having worked as a manufacturer's rep for two major import manufacturers, I was not sure, and am still not sure that my request cannot be handled by a dealer's shop. If in 2005 VW could, by using their plugin system, reprogram my Golf TDI so that it did not honk its horn when I used the remote to lock the doors, I figure that there may be such a capability in the MB system to respond positively to my request. . . . .If I can find someone who is willing to look.
My discussion took place with tech support in NJ. I was given incorrect information as to how the radio is wired. The tech rep did not know that the system was digitally switched. He indicated that the system was not alterable at any level, and was not the least bit interested in forwarding a suggestion. That may explain why I used an assertive term for information gathering.
As to simple reverse engineering, I am not a computer geek. I don't have access to Georgia tech or Lockheed to break into computer codes. I don't have the necessary skill set or tools required. Heck, I don't even have an Sprinter dealer within about 120 miles.
Now that I have indication that this is a software driven item, I'll be able to discuss it with the next level of MB tech support, and hopefully help MB enhance it product for sales in a market segment.
Thanks for your suggestion,
