It can be but I am always suspect when videos don't show them doing the actual work. I have seen so many PDR vids that do this. Want to know why? It's usually because some of the smaller dents can be fixed simply using super cold compressed air and a heat gun. You can find out how to do this yourself online.

In extreme cases PDR is quite useful, but in the beginning of the video you do see a small nick in the paint at the bottom of the dent that is miraculously gone later, that's not "paintless".

As far as cost someone opened the door on my wife's S550 front door where the outer skin is attached to the inner door frame. This was not able to be repaired by PDR so I had to take it to a body shop at a cost of $1,400. A few months later someone nicely put a dent in the passenger door that was able to be repaired using PDR at a cost of $140. I will use the paintless dent repair again but hopefully not for a while unless another thoughtless bastard decides to use my cars as a door stop.

I had a few door dings removed and -- honest to God -- you can't tell they were there. I watched the guy for a little while and it's a very methodical, painstaking process. They use a special yellow light to really define the areas.

I'm in favor of anything that doesn't require repainting. But of course as noted, if you have paint damage, PDR only takes care of the bent metal, and it won't work on really harsh creases.

An honest PDR guy will tell you if they can do it or not. (I had one that was too close to a seam, so he couldn't get to it fully, and as he was not satisfied with the result he didn't charge me for it.)

Good luck.
