Thanks. This is actually great stuff.

I can ask questions and have them answered by some very nice (and knowledgeable people), I can talk to people who love their car (like I do), and I can get a good laugh...all in one place

The only thing that comes close to this is the Asian Massage forum I happen to "stumble" upon the other day.

This is why the Hyundai Genisis and the like will never work.
saying "I drive a Hyundai" is NOTHING compared to "I drive a Benz"

I don't think it would be a good idea for me to create a signature. It would probably just be some shameless plug about me being a Realtor.

+100,000

Couldn't have said it better. I really do not like Asian car companies. They don't even need a designing team since they just copy off of other companies.

I usually get the "I hate that rich kid" look (even tho I worked my butt off for this car). Usually I get plenty of compliments. Every gas station attendant usually says "Nice car" or the Indian ones normally looks at my car and gives a thumbs up, especially if the windows are all down (no B pillar). Which reminds me of the time I was at a friends party and ended up having 3 of her friends in my car (still friends till this day).

In parking lots people think I'm crazy for parking my car a mile away from the store, on occasions I will see another Benz next to my car after I leave the store.

Got benz?

I only got my car a couple of weeks ago, and on the first weekend I drove it into town three teenage boys waiting for the lights to change checked it out and said - Lady thats a really hot looking car - I almost went fire opal red to match, guess you can't drive a convertible around and look inconspicuous at the same time lol.

Lady Historian:

You left me speechless, but... were I living down under, I'm sure something like "Lady, you're way too modest" would instantly come to mind.

Cheers, JV

thanks JV, i'm getting used to the looks, and I just "came out" and admitted at our Monday morning meeting that yes the red Mercedes in the carport (with my personalised plates) was actually mine, after a little stunned silence, and being that they are all technical officers whilst i'm in logistics, they stormed out to the carpark and I had to to do show and tell, which was a bit challenging, i'm still working my way thru the owners manual, but i'm enjoying learning the features, i've got a 5 hour trip coming up for easter, really looking forward to getting out on the highway and having some fun. I do get some negative attention, too. I've been stared down by drivers who seem to get offended when I won't race them through traffic.
The worst case scenario involves a proctologist who drives a diesel MB.
On the road, people pinch their nose because of the fouled exhaust. At parties, friends don't want to shake his hand.

That calls for a picture
I had similar looks back in Poland driving VW Scirocco. Most of the cars in the country were 21-75 HP Fiats build in Eastern Block, so any Mercedes owner was always the fastest guy at the green light. My (one of the first FI) Scirocco was making 0-100 in 6.8 seconds, so when I was zooming by a Mercedes, the driver usually look at me with square eyes.
