I have a feeling my car as of late is running hot and overheating. This is marked by earler just leaving the car running (70-high 60's outside) and the below image is what my temp gague looked like. Now im no expert but that looks very hot to me.
All this started one night when i accidentally gunned the accelerator from a crap. since then the car has lost significant power and is very unresponsive to acceleration. no leaks or anything that i can see. The check coolant message came up today and i topped it off with coolant. it was half or less full (reservoir).
I think my thermostat might be stuck? I outrule filter in running hot as its nothing to do with running hot, but i add it in there for the portion of power loss. dirty filter no air. Where the heck can i get one of these filters anyways?!?!
Its like i could floor the accelerator and it barely accelerates. If i manually drop the gears to 1 (4speed triptonic) it accelerates with some sort of power from 1st. but nothing like before this power loss started. before it happened she took off decently and you could actually feel the super charger around 5500 rpm's (or at least i thought i felt it. It feels like the extra kick Vtec engines in hondas have).
NOw its just engine whine with lack of power. Any ideas? a buddy of mine said it could be the transmission sensors need cleaning (for the shifting problem) as i feel it just hangs around in really high gears....
Oh and I also have a very noticeable exhaust smell when i turn on the air unless i use internal circulation. I heard someone asy something about a vaccum hsose under air box causing the smell, and power loss.
I really need your help guys. I want to see if any of you have experienced what I am right now...
