Unhappy Remote doesn't work after dead battery

I left my key fob in the ignition overnight, in the on position, and my battery drained. I charged my battery and it started fine, but now the remote no longer works for either locking or unlocking the doors or trunk. I tried my back-up key and it doesn't work either.

I have an '05 S500 sedan.

The dealership doesn't know what the problem is, but they want to charge me to take apart my dash to search for a solution.

Question: Why would the remote not work from a discharged battery issue? Any solutions on how to fix this problem?

Do your sunroof and the windows operate normally? When power is interrupted to the car you have to resynchronize some things. I think the steps are in your manual. Or you can search "synchronize" or "resynchronize" here on the forum. It's been discussed many times. Good luck and welcome to the forum.

Check your owners manual as well. Instructions to resynchronize are likely in there too.
