Bluetooth on Merc E220 CDI (W211) with Audio-20

I bought a Merc E-220 CDI with the Audio-20 radio and Bluetooth Prep. Unfortunately, it does not really work as it is more of a Nokia telephone prep unit. I requested an upgrade to make it work and was offered 2 options:-
a) some tweaking with the existing unit which will allow it to be bluetooth compatible. I understand there will be a limitation of 3 paired devices.
b) a removal of the existing Audio-20 unit to be replaced with a newer version of Audio-20 (the one with digital display rather than the current LED display).

Any advise from the forum here on which option is better and the pros & cons of each ?

What is the MY of your car? Does it have the Nokia HF kit with a cradle connected with a curly cable? Why not purchase a ViseeO MBU1000 BT adapter (or a later version if they have one).

PS. Audio & Telematics or W211 forums are better for your question.

PS2. Welcome to the forum.

Thanks for the response. The car is a Dec 08 one. It has a Nokia cradle kit but there does not seem to be any curly cable in the central storage area between the driver and front passenger's seat. With a ViseeO MBU1000 BT adapter, do I need to remove anything to attach it? Furthermore, the ViseeO can only take 3 paired devices, am I right?

Didn't a W211 come with integrated BT HF from the head unit from 06/2008 onwards? At least Comand NTG2.5 did, I thought Audio 20 too. What is your build date then?

In any case if it is a 2008 car with UHI or Comfort telephony option, you can buy an MB BT adapter that you can fit to the connector where the Nokia cradle is currently attached. It pairs with 4 phones if I remember right.
