I have seen them for sale on ebay but IMO don't waste your money. This has been discussed on here before so try a search to read the threads that pop up.

If anyone knows of Mercedes Key Programmer, he'll be a multimillionaire. But the MB will sue him because the hardware/firmware is proprietary.

This becomes a difficult issue. The programmers I have seen are made somewhere in the Orient. Most of those governments do not care if any patents exist and therefore I doubt MB could sue them and win. As far as I know, there is no enforceable international law preventing counterfeiting a device such as this.

Do they work? I doubt it but hopefully someone with hands on knowledge will chime in here.

There is no law that will prohibit the use of programmers same is with Mercedes aftermarket parts!

I've heard of guys programming keys for other makes and they work, but these guys dont wanna share the information.

Other makes are not Mercedes, The keys are programmed by MB from their data base, I dont think you can get blank keys (remotes), no matter what the Chinese say. I have read articles that did not make any sense. you have to remenber there are 24 codes available for each car, three are used when delivered, keys will either be additional, or replacement, if the wrong key replacement is inserted it could erase another key forever. This involves replacing the DAS in the particular car, MB sends that out with a learning key and new remotes, the learning key only applies to the replacement and is a one time use, which has to be returned. None of this security stuff comes aftermarket.
If you read MBs security policy it has been changed.

Lots of professional car theives want to know this, too.

There is ZERO reason for anyone who's not one to need this capability.

I think you can try learning MB codes via the infrared port of a universal TV remote control. However, after all programming is done, the remote will not fit the ignition slot to start the car.
