Hi Guys - I'm a new member from UK (but had several MB inc SL600biturbo, E500, CLK320 & old runaround C220)
I've just sold my 996 Turbo S (HUGE regret!) and need to replace it. I've pretty much narrowed it down to the CLK63AMG or an M6. I prefer the CLK on the face of it (haven't driven either yet & will need to in order to make a final decision) but am looking for background information to help me weigh things up.
If I get the CLK I'll probably go Kleeman or MKB (ECU + Exhaust) to spice things up slightly. These cars are VERY rare in the UK (most go for C63 or SL or CLS...the ones in the coupe market tend to go either 911 or M3 or RS4)
Does anyone on here have a (non Black series - I love those but can't afford one right now) CLK63? If so, how do you find it on the road? How does it cope with the power? (I've always thought they seem under-tyred for that sort of bhp/torque)
Anyone tuned one? If so did it make a material difference to performance, or is it a mod you can hardly notice in an already powerful engine? What's the conclusion (if any) in terms of which tuning package to go for?
How does the 63 stack up to a 55K engine (stock and given a pulley/ECU mod)? From what I've seen the 7G box is a lot more efficient and gives quite an advantage through the gears.
