Angry 1986 190e 2.3L misfire...

So..I own a 1986 2.3L. I just had the belt tensioner go awry (age) and have now replaced the entire assembly. While I had it all torn apart I thought it would be a great opportunity to pressure wash the front of the block with pulleys off and all. Pushed the car out of the garage and did that. Nice and clean. Slight incline on drive so I started and pulled back in the garage with no belt. I just completed all this and what a miss I now have with the engine. I checked the distributor to see if it was wet and it isn't !! I pulled each plug wire off and cylinder 1 doesn't react at all? Am I at fault for starting and driving back in the garage or has something really gone wrong here from the pressure wash? I've checked all vacuum lines and everything seems fine !! Before I replaced the tensioner all was good...I'm just at a complete loss? The timing of the car is by a timing chain right? Starting did this without a belt? Distraught in Denver...

Pressure washing an old engine is never a good idea. It will crack and break vacuum lines and other things.

Try posting in the w201 forum.

Have talked with a reputable mechanic locally here in Denver and he suspects a stuck fuel injector...possibly a vacuum blown off from the wash...just so abruptly happening really leads him to the injector...on my to do list today for sure...
