A Beautiful Day in Clearwater, Florida

Hello Everyone:
My wife and I are new M/B owners so finding good information and reasoned discussion here is really a pleasure.

We are automotive enthusiasts now in our late 50's and mid 60's. Really, I'm a car nut. I've owned just about any automotive interest I've really wanted enough to work for. Sports Cars, Classic, Collectible and Special Interest cars as well as daily drivers. Cars, Trucks and SUV's.

About six months ago it was time to replace my wife's last daily driver. She bought a new GMC Yukon XL in 2000 and put just under 100K miles on it by the end of last year. Never really had a problem with it. So this time she was ready for another Sports Sedan. Oh yes, she also has a 91 Thunderbird Super Coupe that she bought new in 91. That one has 9,760 miles on it. We'll be selling it to make room in the garage for her M/B.

In our search for a new Daily Driver - she was pretty much open to all suggestions. New or a low mileage used car were both equally in the running. The real question was what offered the best value for the money. Styling, performance, ride and handling, road nose and standard/optional equipment were all important elements of the final decision.

After looking at and driving too many alternatives - she finally settled on a 2009 E-350. It was a local trade in at our M/B Dealership with 13K miles. In service about 18 months it still had 2 1/2 years on its original warranty, plus being a CPO added a year. She liked the color {white/cashmere} and it was loaded with all the options she really wanted - Navigation, Premium Sound, Voice Control and AMG Option Package.

So I'm here trying to learn more about the car. She will drive it and I'll take care of it.

FWIW,
Carl

Hi Eric
Thanks for the welcome - Is Shanghai your permanent home, or are you there on a more temporary assignment? I have a friend from Clearwater working there on a temporary assignment.

Hi Carl, I have been in china for the last 17 years, so I suppose this is my home now, I am English but wifey is Chinese. The group I work for has 53 workshops throughout China so it keeps me busy. Based in Shanghai for the last three months but I travel around China a lot.

Shanghai has 23 million people not counting the floating workforce so it is quite an intense place and well worth the experience.

Hi Eric:
I'm very envious.....

China has such a rich and amazing history, its one place I'd love to spend a year or two just soaking it in.

Could you send me just one Terra Cotta Warrior?

take care,
Carl
