If you read the story it is very disturbing.

Unless I'm mistaken (just bought an 07 E320) the 07 you're considering has a diesel (Bluetec) engine.

Eureka! That's right, the 2007 E-Class gasser has the 350 engine.

It is quite true that the marketing of vehicles is mainly a retail task of selling one unit at the time. Therefore, loosing one sale or a past customer to another brand has a relatively low profile in the automaker big picture, when Daimler's trajectory, plus MB product intrinsic performance and image projection have built such a paragon world wide.

Mercedes are built by people who, enlightened as they might be, get into their pants one leg at the time. Cars pass through the distribution line of people who cannot guarantee to be always quite attentive and "in the mood". Then, users chisel either because they are going to sell the car, and don't wish to expend more money in it; or they just "know better" than the manufacturers' standards and service their car "their way" under the impression that all is sought with OEM parts and frequency/quality of service is extra profits.

There probably have been and are plenty of bad MB lemons going around, but they could only reach a used car consumer by deception or at a price "too good to be true". Otherwise, the brand new car owner is the one receiving the spanking and fix "under warranty". When a Mercedes goes well for a year, if it fails later is generally neglect. THERE IS NOT A FREE RIDE.

A car would show appreciation for preventive maintenance by never leaving his owner stranded.

Defensive Driving is never having to say you're sorry: a true love story between man and machine.

The only MB lemons I know of are some late 90's early 2000's models that develop premature rust. Anyways this guy sounds like a real peice of work. Anyone that calls himself "Dimitri the Lover" has to be a douche. MB offered to rebuild his engine for $5,000. When they really didin't have to offer anything since his warranty was up. He still turned it down wanting a "courtesy car."

Note the username of the OP: Toronto Stud.

Like other commenters on this thread, I am very suspicious of the link provided by the OP.
