a/c problem 2002 430 clk

My 2002 clk was charged in August and is now only running cool air. I ran the diagnostics and came up with three errors, but after reading the forum, I erased these in the event they were from previous servicing, re-ran the test and the got b-FF. No other errors. My readings are as follows: 01-79 02-88 03-72 04-75 05-63 06-142 07-8 08-95 09-0 10-1.6 Air runs cooler in the AM and progressively not as cool as the day progresses. I live 100 miles from a MB mechanic, but there is an independent mechanic who can check the a/c. Any ideas or suggestions would be appreciated.

Your system evidently has a leak. The #7 value of 08 is too low. I would have the independent find the leak, and if you think he is trustworthy, have him fix it. My preference would be taking it to the guy more familiar with Mercedes. Good luck and welcome to the forum.

I took it to the mechanic yesterday.....he said he could not find any leaks. He evacuated the system and refilled it at no charge......I am hoping that when it was charged in August, something was amiss and done incorrectly???? Whatever the case, I will keep an eye on what happens and drive the l00 miles to the Honda (Mercedes mechanics) if temp starts going down. No other error codes on the system, so that is good news. Please let me know if I should be doing anything else.

I assume the same guy did both recharges? If so, then he might have done it incorrectly the 2nd time too. How did he check for a leak, dye with ultraviolet light or a sniffer? Just for kicks, run the CC diagnostics again and post the #7 value you get now.

p.s. Typically when you are low on refrigerant you'll hear a hissing from the center vents. Have you ever noticed that?

Thank you for answering. I ran the cc #'s again and this is what I got.....#7 ran at 14 and #5 was 36. I called and asked how the leaks were checked and he told me with dye. He said he checked under the car to see if anything was coming from the evaporator....I didn't know to ask him if he used a light or a sniffer. I do know that the air was very cold in August and then just recently in the past week turned cool. I haven't noticed hissing from the center vents.......So now my question is 1. is it possible it wasn't done correctly last time, and in the event there is a leak at what reading should I start to become concerned and with which numbers on the cc? Also, when should I test again?

You are very welcome. As I understand it, your #7 value of 14 is in the right ballpark. It doesn't matter what type of test he used as I think both are equally effective. I should have asked if he at least used one or the other.

1. Anything is possible but if you had cold air there was at least enough refrigerant introduced for the A/C to function properly.

2. If you do in fact have a leak it is a slow one. At this point I would watch how cool the air is and if it starts to get warmer then run the CC diagnostics.

Just updating....all the numbers for the a/c still are looking good.....the mechanic told me he used ultra violet light to look for the leaks. He told me to bring it back in a few weeks and he will check it again.

Looks like my luck ran out. It was running great yesterday, today only cool air and when I turn it on, I hear a "humming" sound. So it is now turned off, and I will take it the l00 miles to Mercedes where hopefully it will be fixed correctly. All the sensors are okay.....but the freon level is now at 7. Must be leaking!

100 miles is a bummer but I drive 50 to get to mine. Hopefully it won't cost you that much but as you stated, it will be fixed correctly.

Not sure what the humming is (sounds like the blower motor) but when you are low on refrigerant there is a hissing sound coming from the center vents.
