Wink Check this tip out!

For the first time in over six years my W124 1991 300E broke down just before Christmas, without warning it lost power and died whilst driving at around 40mph, after a tow home I checked out fuel delivery and ignition only to find that the distributor drive ( situated behind the rotor) had decided to shear after 126k miles, by the look of it it was corroded about 90%, these are cheap to replace at around 12pounds from Mercedes, and must be a common fault on these older engines. It foxed me for a while as I new both the rotor and cap were quite new.
