how to remove side plastic running trim on ML

I have a serious rust problem on the wifes ML 2002. I need to remove the plastic trim running along the inside of the door sill. I have removed all the plastic clips on the underside. I have also unscrewed 8 bolts from the inside of the chassis (which i dont think i needed to do as it has made no difference!)

Still cant get it off. Anyone help, please.....
