Post new guy

New guy here from the San Fransisco bay area.

i just purchased a 1983 300SD from an estate sale with 81,000 original miles from the original owner.

The car needs a good cleaning but otherwise is in remarkable shape for its age.

Im new to Mercedes vehicles but definitely not diesels. This is only one of a couple of foreign cars i have owned but probably somewhere around my 30th or so vehicle purchase. The only other foreign car i have owned was a 1994 1994 jaguar xj6 vanden plas that i bought second hand in 98.

My current stable of vehicles includes:

4 ford diesel Light trucks

2002 Ford Excursion limited ultimate, 2 wheel drive, 7.3L Powerstroke 7.3L diesel, Auto, with 380,Miles Bought new in September of 2002. The ONLY Things i have had to do to it are brakes, tires, water pump under warranty and regular maintenance.

2000 F-350 lariat crew cab (4 door) Dually (dual rear wheels), Long bed, 2 wheel drive, 7.3L Powerstroke diesel, automatic with 375,000 original miles bought new by me in august of 2000. Western Hauler conversion upgrades. Has a 50 gallon transfer tank in the bed, exhaust brake, light performance tuning, 30K gooseneck hitch, Hawk brake pads, stainless steel brake lines cryo'ed rotors and some other upgrades. Its my daily driver and beast of burden. It will handle way more trailer than the factory says it should day in and day out. From forklifts, to tractors, carry deck cranes, to our 6 horse trailer the truck pulls like a freight train and i wouldn't trade it for ANY new truck.

1994 ford F-350 crewcab, dually, auto, 2 wheel drive, 7.3L IDI factory turbo, with numerous upgrades from, ATS, Banks, bigger injectors tuned pump, built transmission, upgraded brakes 260,000 miles.

1993 Ford F-superduty (F-450) Diesel, Auto, bone stock 175Hp Navistar international 7.3L diesel 4.88 rear end with kanephied 14' utility body Lincoln electric Vantage 500 duetz diesel powered 550 amp welder in the bed. Scales out at 12,790 lbs sans driver.

2 ford Gas pickups

1996 F-150 4.9L 300CI strait 6-cyl, 5spd eddie Bauer reg cab short bed with 150,000 miles.

1985 ford F-250 converted to DRW with 10' flatbed. 460ci, C6 auto, 4.10 rear end. kind of a gas hog but has served me well for 260,000 miles so far. Bought new in September of 85.

1989 C3500 454, turbo 400, with a 12 foot flatbed 89,000 miles getting tired.

Two ford medium duty's

1996 F-700 5.9L, 4spd Allison automatic, with 24' flatbed. 210,000 miles.

1989 F-800 6.6L ford "Brazilian" diesel 175HP 5spd transmission with 2spd rear end, fitted with a national 556A 12.5 ton crane. Lightweight of 27,250 lbs. 61,000 original miles, just under 7,000 hours. Its SLOW as the speed of smell but a money maker.

a couple of semi trucks.

1996 International 8100 2 axle Caterpillar C-7 275 horsepower, 10spd trans normally hooked to a 30' single axle flatbed trailer.

2006 Kenworth T-800 "Heavy Haul" 1430 Sq In grill, Caterpillar C-15 550 Horsepower factory rating, Now 675 horsepower with tuning and some mods 18spd Eaton trans, 22K front axle 52K rear axle 195" wheel base pulls a Murray Professional 16 tire California spec lowbed. Can legally gross 126,750 lbs in the state of California on 5 axles.

I also have an 87 Lincoln town car with 41,000 original miles thats a cream puff

and a 1971 Chevy short bed fleet side that im restoring.

A bunch of forklifts, manlifts, tractors, welders, and other diesel, gas and propane powered vehicles.

Im a steel fabrication contractor in the San Fransico bay area.

Im sure im forgetting something in that fold but thats what i can remember at the current time.
