New member and could really do with some advice on a 112 CDI vito

Hi, I've recently changed job and lifestyle, and a van is where my future lies. I'm selling the golf, and off to see a van in about 12 hours.

In the mean time, can anybody advise on what to look out for, common faults, things to check? Its a automatic 2003 112 CDI.

Now, having just moved to aus, Vito's are expensive, this one is fairly reasonable for here, but almost too reasonable, so i want to make sure everything is good with it. I know basic things to check, but common faults would be good to know, and to bargain on the price with.

I have searched through many articles on this site to do with vito faults, and the black death appears up there... is there anyway to check this at an inspection?

Also, it has 300,000 kms on the clock, i know mercs can go forever, but are there any significant mile stones that should have been replaced over that time?

Really, any advice would be great, it would give me a piece of mind when looking through the vehicle, i've also never owned a diesel motor,a nd know very little about them.

Thanks in advance, its a great forum you have here, and i'll check back in a few hours to see the results. I'll get some pics up if all goes well, its come with some 20inch rims too, an unexpected surprise.

Nice work. Dave
