If you are the type that wants everything to work and you're going to take it in to a dealer or shop for all repairs and maintenance, pass by pretty much all older Mercedes.

I would buy it, though. The rear window is probably the regulator, but who knows? As MM says, check the "common issues" thread in the stickies.
I agree, my local stealership can charge you $300-500 and the car will be worse then when you handed it to them. "Oh well, we tried to diagnose xyz and everything seemed fine so we changed xyz anyway and took it for a diagnostic test drive, now your total is $469.99." If your going to buy one, you will need to learn alot of DIY techniques.

MB's are great cars, but don't expect it to be as reliable as a new car just because it's a Mercedes. My friend's mother owns a late 90's e320 and from what i've heard these were claimed to have life-long transmission fluid. My '99 slk230 has some sort of oil diagnostic sensor that tells you when you need you're oil changed, usually 10-12k miles. Seems like they were worked a lot on trying to develop your "fluid services".
