I must say as being a new member there are tons new things not open to guest services! I have been searching through threads for quite sometime a just became a member. These forums are very helpful, and many thanks to all who spend the time to help us in need! I currently live in Kansas, and enjoy working on cars! I own a 1989 Mercedes-Benz 300E, and I must say this wont be the last Mercedes I own! When I first purchased the vehicle a little over a few months ago, I thought I had gotten myself into something horrid! For the first week or so, the car ran like a dream, the only major thing I had to do was the brakes. Then what seemed like almost overnight, the car developed a hesitation that progressively seemed to get worse, now, It takes a few cranks and some gas to turn it over when its cold. Hesitation happens, when first starting, or when in gear at idle. Seems as if the RPM's drop close to (5) and the oil pressure drops. I've read a few forms and done a few things, which seemed to have helped but the hesitation is still present. So far i've replaced, The distributor cap, rotor, spark plugs, wires, run only premium fuel, replaced air filter, yet its still here!
Ive been told to clean the MAF sensor, today i removed the (3) 10mm screws, fuel lines, and with no luck couldn't remove the unit. Any ideas? It seems this is a common problem amongst W124 models. I've also been told OVP relay? I have been looking over the vehicle, and upon examining the exhaust system notice the muffler is no longer attached to the exhaust. Could this be causing a back-pressure issue? I purchased one an am awaiting installation next week. Many thanks to all in advance for any advice that may be given!
