Potential MB owner - question to existing R350 owners

Hi there,

I want to get some opinions from existing R350 owners. I am currently looking into buying a bigger car for my growing family and while a van is the most practical, it is not my first choice.

Hence R350 comes to mind and I took a test drive of the 2011 model and I really like it compared to a van, it is relatively a better drive.

So I just want to ask owners of the R-Class to see what you experiences are with this car (i.e. is it practical at some level, how is the storage space, maintenance on this car - especially getting the diesel version, etc)

Any insight would help, thanks in advance.

Yes, first check the forum specific to the R-class as suggested, you will get many more replies and much faster. Look for the pull down menu at the bottom right of each page and scroll until you find the W251 forum mentioned.

My opinion, as a non-owner but based on what I have experienced real-world as a passenger is that the rear doors are very wide and basically encourage your kids to smash them into cars parked next to you, so you might find yourself either constantly reminding the little ones to be careful, or apologizing to strangers on a regular basis for the door dings they caused. Van doors that slide back are more practical for this reason. Otherwise I like the redesign of the new model and think they are easy cars to manage especially with the rear-view camera. Good luck with your decision!
