Anyway to get a window sticker for free?

So I called the MB customer care, and they told me that the monroney label (or window sticker) is now 50 dollars. I did not know that. Is there any other way to get it for free? I read on previous threads that it was free, but I'm guessing it isn't now.

Interesting, this is the first I've heard that MBUSA was charging for a copy. You should be able to get a copy of the data card, which isn't as big or pretty, but does list the option codes for the car. That's part of the WIS, so should still be free at the dealer.

Yep, used to be free. They couldn't find mine so MBUSA sent me a print out of all the options and code numbers (which I think is what MTI called a data card).

I mean I have the VMI (vehicle master inquiry or whatever it stood for) but I thought it'd be cool to have the window sticker with the original prices, options, etc.

You are lucky to have gotten the VMI, and yes, that does stand for vehicle master inquiry. MBUSA has instructed the dealers to no longer share that with customers citing confidentiality. I'm with you and would like to have the original window sticker but as I wrote they couldn't find mine. Another thing I wanted was an original sales brochure. I found one easily on eBay. No prices of course, but it explains all the option packages, colors, and a lot more.

Well I got it last year, around maybe February. Yea the brochures are pretty cool, but it'd still be nice to have like a "birth certificate" for your car you know? haha. My mom still has her 1990 Toyota Camry window sticker (but of course she bought that new, and she somehow kept it), and I thought it was cool even though we got rid of that car years ago.

Birth certificate is a good term for it. Would you believe I am still driving my late father's bought new 1991 Toyota Camry now with 127,000 original miles? He hated clutter and I'm sure he threw his sticker away long ago. But I kept the sticker from my (bought new) 1994 Plymouth Acclaim and keep it in a folder with all the service records.

Haha, I think when we totaled the car back in 03, the car only had like 100,000 miles on it. Our cars really don't have any mileage. My dads car 11 years old only has 132k, my moms 06 BMW has like 32k, brothers 03 Nissan 57k mine has 30k for an 05. Anyway, it seemed cool to have the window sticker, I know BMW doesn't do the whole reprint me a window sticker deal which sucks, otherwise I'd find one for my mom. Do you know how long they keep the cars in the database before they idunno delete them (if that's the proper term).

Mileage sounds like our family too. I don't know for sure but I suspect they keep them in the database forever. How much data beyond the VIN, and possibly the original owner's name, they keep is the question.

Like when I called for the window sticker they knew me as the driver, and options on the car as soon as I gave them the vin number. The VMI has the original owner's name, along with the selling dealer, etc.
