Are sedans safer than coupe? What's safer 2010 E clas sedan or coupe?

I read that the 2010 E Class was one of the safest cars, I can't find the link now but I read that somewhere.

Structurally are sedans more safer than coupes in case of impact?

I also read that the older model Benz's are known to be safer than the newer ones. Is that true? Which of the newer model Mercedes are the safest and give the best rate of survival if you were to be involved in a crash?

Also, what about a 2003 CLK320 coupe? How much safer is the new E-class compared to it? A ton? A little?

There are several aspects of safety. Some is driving/handling safety, the other is the crush protection. Big pickup and SUV wins hitting head on a compact car, but they generate high death ratio on single car accidents. If they roll off the road -they will likely kill the occupants on their own.
Generally speaking the car with more metal to bend is safer than the one that gives only few inches between the occupants and the bumpers.
Wagons are the vehicles of choice on demolition derbies.... driven on reverse
Than each vehicle offers unique characteristics.
Smart for example -where occupants feet are right behind front bumper -offers high safety thanks to ingenious frame, that reinforce front bumper with rear engine-giving occupants safety cage.
