67yom with '84 cdt. love the car even with all its idiosyncracies. have owned for 14 yrs. still runs good and hope to be running til doors fall off, then will reattach doors and run some more. live in houston, texas. I had a short circuit under the dash in 2000. Insurance co totaled the car. as I had looked for this specific car for 10 years before finding this one, I could not part with it ,so I bought it back from ins co (salvage price) and began its restoration by removing dash and related components to see what was needed to hopefully bring it back to life. As everything worked and was ok before the fire, I felt it was worth a try to restore. Seeing what te damage was I purcased an 81d for parts. Wiring harness , subsequent parts, etc. I then let it be in limbo for eight years (garaged) then decided to finish the project. My lady suggested i donate the car on several occassions. I said no as this was know closer to becomming a collectable classic and that whn I had time I would dedicate myself to finish this project. I began to bear down so as to complete this. I finally was ready to crank it for the first time in eight years. To mine and her amazement and confidence in the mercedes benz product, it kicked off. I am still driving it four years later. What a labor of love! Hooray for MB CTD
