Burning smell under hood + Red Battery Malfunction

I have been searching around for a answer to my multiple problems. My Battery malfunction warning light came on yesterday, then I also noticed that my car smelt like something electrical was burning. I did some digging on the site and found something about the blower relay and started looking at that as the problem. I noticed that on high it cycles on and of where it should just stay at full blast. Can anyone tell me what they think is the problem.
It is a 2004 CLK320 and it only has 35,000 miles on it.

Welcome aboard.

Not too much tech info in this welcome forum; may I suggest you check in the 209 forum (scroll down the main forum page and you'll see it).

That said you may have an alternator that has failed, the battery indicator is charging, not the battery. If you continue to drive it will strand you because the battery is not being charged. That may also be what's causing the HVAC system to act up, due to the drop in voltage. But get the charging system squared away first, that's critical. If you're not close to a shop get it towed, since you've been driving it and using up the battery.

Yep, thanks Eric. (Probably 2/3 of my posts are from a mobile device, which makes it pretty much impossible to embed links, etc. I figure it's better to help and leave people to scroll the forum than to ignore the threads. )

I am now looking after the New Members section so that everyone gets a reply to their questions, but as I am in China and therefore on a different time to the US my replies may be a little late for some people. I would not even know how to do this on my mobile lol

To be honest I typically don't respond to tech questions in the new members forum, but I was really concerned given the nature of this one. The battery has always been a curious choice to me since it doesn't suggest a charging system failure, and being stranded is never a good thing.

I used to moderate with the mobile, too. It was sometimes very frustrating.
