Angry Car Value After Body Work!

My car was backed into while dropping my daughter off at school. There were a couple of dings in the driver front door and the area between the front tire and driver door. One estimate was around $1000 to repair. I am thinking that the value of the car will go down once body work is performed. it is a 2007 C230 Sport still under factory warranty until July. What are my options dealing with the person's insurance?

GOOD LUCK.
The car depreciation is hard to negotiate with insurance and still pretty new MB with reported accident, can have the value lowered by 20-30% no matter what accident it was. You can call your own insurance and ask for an advice. You need to report the accident to them anyway.

A problem is that the "depreciation" effect on value is only realized at sale, so unless you were actively selling the property at the time of the loss, measuring one's damages is going to be speculative at best.

Your best "protection" is to have repairs done by reputable shop and that only OEM replacement parts, not "OEM-like" or "OEM quality" or worse, "CAPA approved" replacements, be used. There's a reason why companies like DEPO and TYC flourish, they make cheaper replacement parts for the auto repair industry.
