Post s 500 power window problem

My drivers side window on my 1998 s500 will not stop running once it is fully up. When I raise the window it goes all the way up and if I keep my finger on the button it will continue to run. Is this a switch problem or something else.

You say it keeps going, is it possible the motor "teeth" are slipping inside the regulator and sounds like it is still turning. When the window reaches the top, about all you should hear is a motor hum, not a motor running.

Otherwise, there are two switch positions...first position is manual up, second position is auto up to fully closed.

..if you will depress and hold the switch fully in for two seconds extra when it reaches the top, the unit is supposed to auto program the position and stop their automatically next time.

So, starting from the window open position, fully push the button to raise the window, and hold for at least two more seconds when it reaches the fully closed position.

If that doesn't work then there could be something going on with the window motor which the controls are not sensing the motor status. Once the window is blocked, the motor locks and the amps/resistance around the motor coils should change which is how it knows to shut itself off. German engineering.
