Like everyone else has already stated, you pretty much just learn as you go. I've done this to every car I've ever bought, but just get to know your car. Explore the engine bay, read DIY articles, but as you read through them locate the specific parts, even if you're just looking it over and not actually doing anything.

We all started somewhere, so good luck with the purchase!
