It seemed like my interior noise level increased when I switched tires from Continental ProContacts to BF Goodrich Traction T/A. I did so because the Contis (OE in my case) wore out in less than 20,000 miles. Also the ride is now harsher. If I had to do it again I would look closely at Michelins and the better grades of Continentals.

I agree 1000%. My E430s got different brands of tires on them, one is more noisy than the other on the same road.

The OE Michelin's PS2's on my 05 got really loud and rough when at the end of their service life. I didn't have any complaints regarding noise when the tires were new. Remember you've got a sport tuned suspension and sport tires. Maybe the c240/c280 would've been a better choice?

A cheap tire alternative are falken 912's. About half the cost of michelin's and a lot of tire for the money. Not noisier IMO.

or see if other similar models have same noise. go to used car lots or ride someone's for sale.
once my buddy bought a 560sel, they seller told us is tires noise, it turned out to be the tranny, we changed tires and it sounded no difference.
was there any bearing noise, rear end?

home of the 4,5,6 and 8 cylinders.

Thanks for all the suggestions guy's you've been helpful.

I love my C230 and If I can get rid of the tire roar I'll love it even more.
The Pilot Primacy's get louder as they wear. If you have worn down to 50% of the original tread depth the tires are about as loud as they can get provided you don't have any unusual tread wear patterns developing.
I would guess that they are probably a lot louder now than they were when new.
The Conti's are a lot quieter but I have never had a Conti wear out because they seem to develop tread separations before the tire wears down to the tread wear bars.

When the tires on my C230 wore out I replaced them with another set of Pilot Primacy's and the difference in noise was really apparent. Now that the tires are showing some wear the noise seems to be coming back as well.
When I was shopping for new tires I did get to try on a set of Generals. They were louder new than my worn Pilot Primacy's. The more aggressive tread patterns on the high performance tires is the reason for all the noise in most cases.

Potato Chip, custom canuter valve, low-friction muffler bearings, synthetic turn signal fluid, Hi-Definition Progressive Scan Wiper Blades.
Law-makers are supposed to regulate in the interest of the public as opposed to regulating in the interest of the regulated party.
If it says Pratt and Whitney on the outside it better say Martin Baker on the inside.

Actually Mercedes has the class and noise level is very high quality but In my choice, Mercedes-Benz has unveiled "new-generation" Viano and Vito models. The Viano is a luxurious mega-people mover with loads of space and creature comforts for passengers.
