By "gives itself gas" are you saying it has a fluctuating idle? Any Mercedes shop should have the diagnotic equipment to pull the fault codes. Or for about $10 you can build a code reader yourself and pull them.

I am not sure if you have a M103 or M104 engine in my car but I would check the ovp (overload protection relay). It is the relay located next to the firewall with a fuse in it. You have to remove it and test as follows:

1. Set the multimeter to diode mode.
2. Positive test probe to terminal 31 and neg to term 30

norminal value is 0.4V to 1.5V
These are for a M103 engine.
