sorry but there are some dumb answers on here. DON'T APPLY ANTI-SEIZE TO THE THREADS, APPLY IT TO THE RIBS OR INSIDE THE IGNITION WIRES. i've never heard of a spark plug seized up in a cylinder head. search something like "ignition wires stuck" and you will find threads about wires getting stuck to the spark plugs.

I think benznoob

is a little confused. Do not apply antiseize to the spark plug wires. It is a metallic based compound, usually aluminum. If applied to the spark plug connectors it will almost assure misfires since it can conduct the spark to ground.

Stuck wires are a potential rare problem as benznoob says. The correct compound to apply to the connector is a dielectric grease. Also, invest in a purpose-made spark plug boot puller.

Update

great responses! as always, i appreciate your answers and opinions.

Update on my first DYI: I did my own spark plugs... without any anti-seize! The spirit of mercedes told me NOT to put anti-seize.

the plugs came off easily, however the boots did not. i was really worried of damaging the boots because i had to pull really hard to remove them. next time i do a spark plug change, i will definitely go with raccoon's advice of a boot puller.

performance difference?? oh, hell yes! it seems like my car had the original plugs!! they were the NGK. i put in the Bosch platin. consequently, the engine is now more revvy and light, but on the other hand, it seems like the power is accessed at higher RPMs.

and to believe my mechanic quoted me $395 for the spark plug change that i did in less than an hour and $50 in parts!!
i know ur wondering, why my mechanic quote me so high? well, supposedly because my engine, the M272, has 12 spark plugs. can you belive that?! and i was about to pay that amount simply for the peace of mind... but the spirit of the mercedes (spirit of benzworld, that is) told me to do it myself, its easier than it seems.

thank you all for all your help!!

now, on to the next project!
