I'm an automotive writer among many other automotive-related things.
Quick story: Years ago, I drove my Merkur XR4Ti to a used car lot where they had a 300TD for sale with "turbodiesel" written across the windshield. I was fairly sure that the model was a non-turbo, so I stopped in to inquire. The dealer popped the hood to show me the engine but had to leave to take a call. After verifying that this was a non-turbo (and I wanted a turbo), I started to leave. The dealer came back out to ask what I thought about the Benz. Informing him that it was not a turbo, he went back to check.
"What's that?" he asked pointing at the engine bay. I replied "the exhaust manifold." I then walked him over to my car to show him what a turbo looked like. The last thing he said to me was "Are you thinking of trading in the Escort?"
Gotta love (bad) salesmen.
