engine rebuild/performance

hi everyone I signed up sometime ago but got side tracked with business and now its time to give my old girl a 1981 380SLC some tlc. The engine is a bit noisy on startup (tappets?) but doesnt blow any smoke and last weekend had her up to 180kmh @ 5000rpm so she still has a bit of life left. I am thinking about freshening up the motor (comps from memory all around 130-135) and would like to find out if there is any suppliers of parts etc that could give a few more herbs. I understand the SLC was used for rally and perhaps some of this information is floating around.

I am also going to fix up the rust, paint and re-upholster etc and has anyone dealt with these guys K&K Manufacturing - Antique / Vintage Mercedes Parts who do a lot of panels etc as being in Western Australia it can be hard to determine who the good guys are

Thanks in advance

LOL no I'm not but I have met a few Aussies on the net. All of you guys have a great sense of humor and I like all I've met. Please note that I edited my post and you need to go to the Roadster section. Now I'm off to drink more gin although I do like Australian wine (that the GF makes me drink) you guys produce.
