I would like to say hi and how
and why I didn't sleep all night and joined this site.
I bought a V220 CDI Ambiente on the 22-10-10 in Liverpool and drove back to London the drive was perfect apart from the fact that I felt a huge difference with the previous Mercedes I owned for 2 years 2004-2006 which was a year 2000 E 240 estate petrol. The problem started yesterday (still today for me as I didn’t sleep yet) where around 3 pm I decided to take car and drive to Oxford street to pick a mobile phone i had there to unlock.
The car was stinking of exhaust fumes but the smell come from the front of the car not from the back or the middle or underneath but from the bonnet and inside the cabin I had to close all the inlet. So been Saturday I couldn’t go to see my mechanic and at Had to go to a quick-fit in Wadnsworth and they checked and told me that the exhaust is whole brand new but it does stinks of fumes inside the car and on the outside when you stand near the bonnet. Just before getting to quick-fit I missed a turn and been 15 to 5 time of closure on Saturdays I so a clutch repairer quick-fit look alike and I stopped to see what they think. He young mechanic put his head inside the bonnet and couldn’t see anything wrong as there’s not smoke coming out and then when he took the head out almost feinted …he said that he think could be EGR. So once back home knowing that the exhaust is new I made a big search about this EGR but I can see that could be other things as the EGR would cause this fume if it was stuck close but in this forum I found some nasty news (very useful ) so I hope is just a a tube from the air filter but…..will see if anybodyhas suggestions please reply.
I will copy this to a Thread “ Vito - Fumes in cab!” gixxerpat and Mr Lee seems to have a good mechanical knowledge .
