Bose equipped Mercs

This may only apply to a models, possibly only older versions. I have a 2002 E55 AMG. But I wanted to see if people were telling me the truth and get some feedback.

I am upgrading my stereo within the car to modernize my car with the new "essentials": Bluetooth, Modern Navigation, Sat radio, Ipod. Simple enough right? Go buy a nice double din deck like the Pioneer AVIC 9somethingBT.

Well the person installed my stereo and let me drive out thinking nothing was wrong. Then I turned up the volume and lost half my sound.

Here is what I was told when I went to another installer. It is not possible to wire a new reciever to the Bose speakers. They apparently are 2ohm and not 4. Next I was told it would be 2 months before my new reciever frys due to the fact that it is essentially bridged to run 2ohm speakers. Running twice as hard essentially to run the Bose speakers.

If this is true. Please keep this in mind when you go to make what seemed to be a financially reasonable upgrade to an older system. Now I am in process of buying new speakers for all of my Bose speakers and a Digital Amp that I now need to mount. The addition of a subwoofer is also recomended to handle the low reproduction that are lost from the "subs" that were in place on the rear deck part of the car. To do this right from the Reciever to the speakers, amps, and sub looks to get you in the 3-4k price range at a minimum.

Can anyone comment if they have handled this differently?
