A big vito crazy hello
Hi everyone. I am the proud, if not yet ecstatic new owner of a 2003 vito 110cdi. This, it seems will either serve the dual purpose of getting me and my tools and materials to work, and secondly, of doing 420m road trips every couple of weeks or more. vito is fast efficent comfortable and drives well.
why not over the moon just yet? Made the schoolboy error of buying from a commercial garage. I swear those tossers are masters at covering shit up and shifting it on. Anyway, van's not perfect, lets put it that way, but with help from all of you beautiful people I've already got a lot smoother shift on my gear stick with the simple addition of some oil to the cables.
Bought this because I thought it looked smart on account of the re-spray. Now I feel like a sucker as have noticed all sorts of problems, including the respray.
Van has good, regularly serviced engine and i thought that with respray to take care of the old vito's propensity to rust I was on to a winner.
I'm not saying that I've been done, just that the stories only just begun, and as well as fixing her, I seem to have caught the bug which makes you want to fully soundproof, insulate, board and then carpet the interior, already purchase low voltage led downlighters for the ceiling, will eventually upgrade the front seats and cover over the roof liner with matching carpet. full ice installation, have set of 3 way components with 10" drivers and 2-ways with 6.5"s for the doors already order.
Have done so much research on insulation you would not believe! feel free to pick my brains. This all sounds very ambitious I'm sure, and very expensive too. It won't be though as I am certainly not rolling in money.
I've already been shuffling around the thing with sander/grinder/can of primer in hand.
This is going to be a beauty when I'm done. I'll learn a lot, and you guys can benefit. I've gone vito mad. watch this space to see what happens next.
