Very upset with dealer and I need some input asap
This past week I got a 2006 c280 luxury 4matic that was a trade in at a Lincoln dealership. Everything on the car is great, except when I was picking it up from the dealer I noticed they had cut the window tint on the rear window when removing the dealer for sale sign. They agreed to replace the tint for free.
`I dropped the car off the other day to get the window re-tinted and when I picked it up I noticed vertical lines (can be felt with my finger as scratches) on the driver and passenger front window and the passenger rear window. I know these can sometimes appear over time from the track rubbing against the window but these lines were not there prior to me having dropped the car off with the dealership. They are trying to tell me this is normal but I know that these lines were not there before I gave them the car to redo the back window. The lines are very obvious and look like complete crap. Its definitely something that is very noticeable.
My question to you is how can these lines appear so quickly? I want the dealership to have the windows redone because I can ascertain with 100% certainty that the marks were not there prior do them redoing the back tint. My theory is that they cleaned the windows with some kind of cleaner that contained ammonia which softened the tint and allowed the marks to occur when rolling down the window only 1 or 2 times. Does anyone know if this is possible? I want to have something concrete to show them at fault so they can replace the tint.
I will try and take pictures of the windows. They are very bad and definitely not something that I had overlooked. In fact, when picking up my girlfriend after they messed up the tint, the first thing she asked was what happened to the windows... Thanks.
