Question 1985 300D Turbo W123 OM617

Help Please with Engine Oil Leaks:

My engine has 340K on it, and I'm the 3rd owner. The car runs great, I burn a blend of 50-50% WVO & #2 for around town miles, and just WVO for long trips. I calculate my anticipated fuel usage so that I am pretty close to empty upon arrival, and when I get to my destination, I put in 5 gallons of #2 and do a long purge. I've had the car for 3 years. I rebuilt the injectors with Elsbett Products, glow plugs, 30 plate heat exchanger, and auxillary fuel pump to help move the WVO. Here is the major problem: Oil leaks everywhere. So, here are my general questions, and any insight is greatly appreciated:

1. What is quicker, removing the engine and redoing all the gaskets and seals or doing so while the engine is in the engine bay?

2. How much time does it take to remove an engine?

Time is the enemy because this is my daily driver.

I have what appears to be an oil leak from the head gasket, lower oil pan gasket, upper oil pan gasket, oil filter housing, turbo drain tube, and I will leave out the minor ones. I already replaced the vacuum pump and gasket and got rid of that leak, and the nasty oil junk by the tachometer sensor. I can keep using Gunk & pressure washing the engine, but it would be nice to keep the drive way clean.

Any thoughts, or experiences, or both?
