Exclamation 80' 240D rattling on acceleration--rough starting

Hello all im new to this forum, so I thought I might give it a try

I have a 1980 240D-w123-with only 70k miles on it,car ran great until.. at the
time without further research I made a foolish mistake by running the car on
WVO(waste veggy oil) without -preheating-. although I live in Texas, the fuel
still needs to be heated to at least 160 deg to be usable to flow into the
engine correctly.. So since then I have completely drained any old Wvo from
the engine, changed both fuel filters and im running it back on diesel. I was
hoping it would clean itself by running diesel as well as fuel additives
through the engine, but the noise is getting more noticeable. I have isolated
it down to -clogging- from waste oil particles maybe, most likely the issue is around either the -fuel injection pump or the injection pump manifold somewhere in the area-

- you can hear it the best on freeway, upon acceleration there is a distinct
rattling seemingly only when its pulling in alot of fuel like going up hills,so its an
intermittent sound that only is noticeable on acceleration when its pulling
fuel. 1st to 2nd gear rattles right at the shift, but i know its nothing with
the transmission..

-and car starts abnormally rough cold, but then runs fine on warm up,so signs of lack of fuel as well.maybe? also idles hard, but that just might be signs of needing some tune up..

I hope someone can tell me a cheap method besides replacing the whole
injection pump, cause that's what im afraid of.. any help is appreciated
thanks!
