New Member -New Owner Bill SL500 1996
I am a first-time owner of a Mercedes and just bought a 1996 SL500 and love it. I need to fix my hydraulic latches for the top and I have already contacted Dennis and will soon be shipping the windshield pistons to him.
The SL500 has 78,000 miles, is forest green with caramel seats, and I love the cell phone in the dash...wish I could make it work. Smooth acceleration and turning radius are amazing.
I am 51 (39) live in Denver and have done a lot of car repair work out of need and some for pleasure. First cars were a 1967 VW Bug with no floor and had to put in a used motor. Also have had a pair of 1977 242 Volvos where I did suspension, engine, and fuel-injection work. Other fun cars were my son's 1976 Intl Scout and my 1978 Scout. Did major body-support work which included replacement and welding of floor, supports, rocker panels, and tailgate as well as some engine repair.
Currently I have the SL500, a 2010 Honda Pilot black (wife's car), and a 1972 long bed Ford F250 (blue). I have already used this group to figure out how to repair the hydraulics for the top and want to thank everyone for the helpful stuff here. Looks like a great group and I am happy to have found you.
