Oil changes at MB

I just had a recent a recent expeience, with two dealerships owned by the same corporation. My first encounter was an oil / filter change where synthetic was specified, on my 92 500 SEL which had been on synth for the last 6 years, They installed Mobil One ESP. My next experience was with the other where my 01 320E car was serviced, and synth again was specified. I recently looked at the invoice and it showed that Penzoil had been used. It just happend that I got a customer satisfaction survey from the parent company, and questioned the oil discrepancy.
Less than a half hour later I recieved a e-mail from the service manager stating in effect
" if I wanted Mobil One it is available at additional charge".
I replied that MB suggested Mobil One at one time, the almost immediate response was that MB required that Mobil One, was required on cars that had the complementary service program, and MB paid the bill. And furthermore Penzoil was on the approoved list by MB, so there.

ESP in NOT recommended for gasoline engine for about 2 years now.
Did you make sure the Penzoil is MB approved oil?
Sound to me like the shops have been getting rid of old stock oils doing your services.

It appears they have been installing Penzoil since the free service lapsed a few years ago, consistant with their statement on my 01E. It appears that my 92 has been getting Mobil 1 ESP since 96

M1 ESP Formula M was advised for gasoline engines when it come to the market and I don't think it existed in 96. More likely around 2005. Are we talking about the same oil?
Than the oil was reclassify as diesel engine oil only and not recommended for gasoline engines.

The real question is why are you taking a 9 year old and 18 year old car to the dealer for an oil change? Do you like wasting money and getting bulk cheap oil at a high price?

It is called condo-living, rules about NO repairs in the underground garage or parking lot. The kids at jiffy lube are a joke, the indy charges almost as much, they do a safety check. I use synth since I can change oil once a year (10,000) on my cars, I get a MB club discount on parts and labor. They wash and vacuum it, and I get to sit in acomfortable waiting room I still do my own air filters and other items. Should I need something serious they give me a car and send me on my way.
