Unhappy Delivery Trouble?

Afternoon all. if the answer is posted somewhere, sorry about that - just point me in the right direction.

Been waiting on our new 2011 E550 for a while now. Arrived in Baltimore almost two weeks ago after a European delivery. Our local dealer says that the status is "VPC delay" and the GM says his contacts are saying it is customs. Earlier they said it was transportation from Baltimore to the mid-west. Seems like no one knows anything and in the mean time, I don’t have my car.

So, two questions. Anyone else been having trouble with delivery of cars recently? Second, is there someone in corporate at a fairly senior level that I can contact to voice my displeasure at what is happening? Not the level of customer service I expect from Mercedes.

If you are an MBCA member, they have an ombudsman who has the ear of MBUSA. Ask if any repair work was done to your car due to damage in transit. They have to disclose it if it was over some dollar amount. They don't have to disclose it if it is less than that amount, but I'd sure ask. Hope that's not the reason for the delay.

If it is really a customs issue, then there isn't much you can do but wait (or find someone to pay off to release the car). If it isn't a customs issue, then there is a good chance that the car got damaged and it being repair at a new vehicle processing center. I would carefully inspect the car prior to taking delivery. It may have been involved in a major accident, yet it will get passed off to you as brand new.

sberge01, sorry to hear about your delay. Please keep us posted on your delivery. I am planning on doing the European delivery early next year. For the most part I have only heard good things about the EDP.
