Unhappy 1981 Mercedes 300D Engine Mystery...

My friend owns a 1981 Mercedes 300D, with Engine # 615.223 1304, as stamped on the Engine Mount. We are trying to locate and purchase a Neutral Safety Switch for this car, but are unable to cross reference this Engine # to the correct part. There seems to be at least two different switches that could possibly fit this auto...

We also attempted to bypass the NSS with instructions we found on a couple of other posts in this forum, but we were unable to locate the "Block" that is supposed to be near/under the battery. We were also unable to locate the 4 pin plug that is supposed to be above/near the accelerator. When attempting to bypass the NSS at the plug on the Switch itself, we could not get the Engine/Starter to turn over.

We also ran a jumper between the Starter and the Solenoid, which only "thumped" the relay on the Left Front Fender. Any photos of where these other 2 bypass locations are would be a great help. We need to get this started once to get the car up on some ramps to remove the NSS and verify which one we need...

engine number should be on the front, back, side of the engine block, never heard of it on the engine mount that should be the part number for the mount, possibly you could bypass it at the switch on the transmission where the linkage connects

Yep, That IS the Motor Mount Part #. Will check and find the correct #'s. Jumping at the Connector right at the NSS yielded no start - nothing...
