2006 E350 4matic malfunction on test drive!
We were driving home from Mercedes dealership in our 2006 E350 4matic. 27 miles away from dealership, battery warning light came on and said "take to shop". Then, "battery Low light" came on followed by "your convenience amenities disabled" or something to that effect. Followed by power steering going out and car stalling. When I restarted the E350 the power steering returned. Another 1/2 mile and "shut engine off/coolant level low" light came on. We then called the 800 number for mercedes road side assistance. They were great. Car was towed back to dealership. Not a good first experence with mercedes benz !
This E350 is certified with 70,000 miles on it! Sales Manager said that was rare to certifie a benz with that kind of milage. Never the less, it is certified. This 06 E350 is clean and we thought it was in good shpe being certified and all. Dealer offered to repair it under certified program agreement. Offered the next 3 scheduled maintenances to be paid for by dealership.
. The Dealership seems to be bending over backwards to resolve this and not lose the sale. We also have the option of returning the car and getting the money back. That is one of the terms of the certified program. This was to be our first Mercedes Benz. One worry is that the car will continue to malfunction on a regular basis even though it has a Clear CarFax report. This is our first experence with Mercedes Benz.... Is Their service and product really a cut above the rest ? ... Any input or ideas on Mercedes Benz backing their certified cars will be appreciated.
The fact that it was certified, indicates to me that it shouldn't have malfunctioned.
