Unhappy New Mercedes - Paint Screwed

Hi All,

I was a really proud guy when I picked up my first Mercedes at the dealership last Monday ( a C280 - BLACK) . She was a thing of beauty. I left it parked in a semi-covered garage and a bunch of *&#$*#$^#$ spray-painted some machinery nearby and last friday morning I found the car covered in micro-fine specs of yellow paint.

Not visible until one comes really close.

I took it to a paint shop where the guy buffed it and all the yellow specks were gone. He then waxed the car and also ran the windows through a clay bar. The car was again looking great but now I am not so sure if its my imagination playing up on me. I somehow feel the original shine has gone and there are a few swirl marks, I am not sure if the swirl marks were already there at the dealers.

I am really feeling bad about what happened...

Do you think the buffing could have screwed up the paint, If so can I do anything at all to get the finish back. ... Advice ?? thoughts??

Sounds like you need to find a good local detailer who specializes in 'paint correction'. He will be able to remove the swirls and layer paint sealant to create a super shiny appearance.

Yes the guy who buffed the paint could have used too course a buffing pad and created the swirls. Agreeing with powerseller that you should take it to a good detailer. MB paint jobs, if original, are quite good and I think your problem can be corrected.
